SOMT Series Drilling Insert

Feature of SOMT series drilling insert:

(1) SOMT is easy to drill deep holes with a long warp. The blade adopts a symmetrical structure with centering and double-edged cutting, so it can drill even 20D deep holes. General U drill, shallow hole drill can not drill deep holes, it can be completed by spade drill

 (2) Spade drills can be widely used in traditional machine tools such as radial drills. Due to the low spindle speed, poor rigidity, and weak power of traditional machine tools, general quick drills, U drills and other drills with carbide inserts cannot be used. The spade drill uses a high-speed steel coated blade containing cobalt, which has high toughness and impact resistance, which can effectively solve the problem of chipping;

(3) The drilling accuracy of the spade drill is much higher than that of the U drill. U drill is to install two asymmetric cutting blades. When the cutter body cuts into the surface of the workpiece, the axial force on the outer and inner cutting edges of the cutter body is unbalanced, which will inevitably cause size changes. Therefore, the U drill can only be used as a roughing tool with an accuracy of ±0.1mm. The spade drill blade cuts symmetrically, and the dimensional accuracy can be controlled within 5 wires. After direct drilling, it can meet the requirements of the threaded bottom hole. There is a wiper blade on the side of the spade drill blade. Through the extrusion of the wiper blade, the finish of the processed hole wall can reach RA1.6.

 (4) The processing speed  of SOMT insert is not as fast as u drilling, and the cost is larger than that of ordinary drills. If it is used for ordinary machine tools, it is necessary to change the machine cooling method to internal cooling.
